I’ve always wanted to attempt a shot of the starry night sky. Being in New Jersey and in the suburbs of NYC, there’s too much light pollution that you can’t really see the stars. A text from a friend reminded me about trying this shot out.
This is my favorite part about going camping down in Virginia every 4th of July weekend with the family: at night it’s all darkness as I sit on the pier on the Chesapeake Bay with a calm summer breeze in my face. Then I look up and I’m back to my same thoughts as my 7 year old self - thoughts of wonder and awe, feeling that I’ve yet to reach so many goals in life that seem so far away.
This photo was shot with a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 lens with the shutter exposed for about 10 minutes. The light trails is due to the rotation of the Earth as an intended effect.
